Not to sure about Kai being part of the circle now.

The first break came quickly. We were all hanging out in the cafeteria before Julia jumped in one of the spare seats at our table that we were sitting around.
“Transfers! End of next month, it’s been confirmed!” Julia said to Kristina and Hannah.

Go dame. 5 stars. I loved how realistic this book was. How every relationship mattered and tied back to create our characters. I also loved Grace’s parents. It’s not often u read a book where the world is set in a polygamy setting and the parents are still alive and are polyamorous. That was refreshing. I’ll probably read the next book. Like tomorrow.

I think new circle members are revealed when all current members touch. Like if Apollo and Grace touched Dylan at the same time? I’m not giving up on Dylan and Vincent being circle member. I’m still not sure about Kai but he appears enough for it to be a possibility.

I bet Apollo was with Vincent.

He casually smoked as people came over to us,Lucas happily soaked in the attention. He was like a king as people came to him with a type of adoration, each knowing Lucas, each congratulating us drunkenly on finding each other.

Ah. Lucas’s fathers were over come with grief at the loss of 2 circle members and a child that they neglected the children they still had. And the environment said children lived in. By the time they snapped out of their grief they witnessed everything and decided the problem was too big to handle. Now all they do is provide financially.

So many questions were waiting for me to ask. Why a koi fish? Did that hold meaning? And why was he hiding it?
“Did you get that new pain you were longing for?” It felt unnerving asking that question. I didn’t want him to be in pain at all.
“Not really, I was still recovering, and my leg was useless at the time. But there were some moments I treasured.

Oh yah I’m going with my theory on Grace being the heart of the circle meaning people only recognize each as being part of the circle once they touch Grace. That’s why Dylan was sad when he found on Grace and Apollo were in the same circle. Because Dylan had obviously touch Apollo and felt nothing.

I focused on the sheet trying to ignore my guilt at feeling that way. My hand shook as I put the information correctly. Apollo was quick and had already finished before he shifted behind me. I could feel his heat and the shift of my hair as he breathed in and out. I felt the tug of my soul. It rippled with attention.
It felt like he was dancing with it. Wild and untamed, that’s what his soul did to me.

“Fucking tap that pencil again, I dare you!” Apollo shouted as he pointed at Carson with aggression, making some of the other students struggle to hold both of them back. Carson pulled against the various hands as he came back with his own curses.
“You are fucking crazy, man!” He shouted as he rubbed away blood from his eyebrow that was starting to swell.

Apollo/ Lucas’s mom probably died on his birthday or giving birth to him or saving him.

And he created a new persona to hide his grief.

Bags in my hands. I couldn’t help but have a big smile on my face. It had been a long time since we had a mother and daughter day out, and I loved how mom was being. We giggled like teenagers as we tried on clothes that weren’t our styles and even went to a salon to get our nails done.
It was refreshing and carefree, and I wondered if this was what she was like at my age.

average human Her mouth stretched wide as a simmering excitement plastered her face.
“Transfers?” I questioned, looking at Kristina for answers.
Were there people coming here?
“Every year, the school hosts students from different countries.” Kristina explained. “Students our age will probably be coming here for a two months stay.”
“This year, they will be from France!” Hannah grinned while wiggling her thin black eyebrows.
“You got a thing for Europeans, Hannah?” Dylan asked, letting out a cheeky laugh, sitting down in the chair next to me, his guitar case placed firmly by his side. I noticed he was hanging around us a lot more when he found the time. I expected we gave him a moment’s peace as others tended to ask him questions and favours from him. Kristina was quite protective of her cousin and was often chasing people away. Did she also see that under his entire front that Dylan was a nervous soul deep down?
“Any chance they could be my circle, I’ll be into them.” Hannah said while maintaining a fierce concentration on painting her nails, not a spec of black paint out of place.
“I don’t think I want someone from my circle living that far away.” Dylan brow twisted like he was pondering about the dilemma it would bring. It was one of the main problems people had.
“Let me guess, the school wants you to perform when they get here.” Kristina said dryly as she noticed a thin folder in Dylan’s hands.
Dylan shrugged, tapping his slender fingers on the folder like it had piano keys. “Got my rehearsal schedule for the next few weeks. They’re pulling all the stops to keep our visitors entertained and mingling as much as possible.”
“Typical,” Kristina muttered under her breath, but Julia nearly jumped out of her seat.
“Are they going to have a ball?” Her eyes grew wide, and her purple stained lips spread into a gigantic grin. “They got to have a party! They always do!”
Dylan shrugged again but looked uncertain at the question. “Maybe, there is talk, and you know how this school is.” He sighed, slouching, accidentally knocking his knee into mine. Even with the fabric between us, I felt the press of heat briefly that made me stiffen. Sending me a quick apologetic look, it caused me to smile at his alarmed face.
“I’m sure they are pulling out all the stops, Julia.” Kristina said under her breath.
“I’m worried I might not get a chance to meet everyone.” Hannah looked disturbed at the chance of missing her circle members.
“You will have another chance when you go over there later on in the year.” Julia’s purple nails clicked on her Pepsi can.
“You’re going to France?” I asked in awe at her bravery in her going across the world on her own.
“Hell, yeah!”
“Don’t they still burn witches over there?” Apollo’s voice cut in our group as he pulled a chair from another table to ours. His long legs stretched out, trapping my own between his and Dylan’s.
No one batted an eye as Apollo pushed his way into the conversation. Apollo was able to jump into any group and strike up a conversation with ease. Though he usually didn’t make an appearance till lunch was nearly over. But here he was, in our little bubble, his fizzy light bringing mischief and chaos that I sensed he loved to spread.
“Then I’ll make sure for you to burn with me.” Hannah spoke, her eyes still on her nails.
“Nah, the school made it very clear I’m not allowed to go.”
“I’m surprised that they didn’t jump at the chance to get rid of you.” Julia mumbled into her can of drink.
Apollo smirked, “They will miss me too much. Someone’s got to keep an eye on this place.”
“I thought you would dive headfirst for the chance to go. They allow people our age to drink legally over there and the chance to find circle members. Win-win in my book.” Hannah softly blew at her right hand, the smell of the sweet-sharp chemicals hit my nose.
“I can drink here, so that’s no difference to me, and besides, if my circle members are over that side of the world, they can stay there.”
“You don’t want your circle?” I blurted out the question before I could stop myself. This was the first time I’d heard about him being against it.
He gave me an odd pressing look, his mouth cast downwards. “I have responsibilities here. So, I’m not moving.”
“Responsibilities? Like what, growing weed that you sell?” Dylan asked. He attempted and failed to conceal his amusement.
“I don’t grow it.” Apollo’s classic smile came back on his lips, a somewhat hidden glint of mischief that he didn’t try to hide. But it suddenly changed as his jaw twitched, which looked like agitation. “But just because I don’t seem as busy as you, doesn’t mean I’m not.”
Dylan put his hands up in surrender at Apollo’s stern voice, “I’m not judging, man.”
Apollo gave a huff as his hand went up to his hair, pushing the strands out of his eyes. He did look a lot better than when I met him at the mall. Healthier and the pungent odour of alcohol and smoke was gone, now only leaving that fresh smell of sunscreen and herbal lemon.
“Would you want to go?” Hannah asked me, “I’m sure if you ask, they will try to fit you in.”
I instantly shook my head. “No, it’s not for me.”
I could just barely manage my life as it was, and the thought of going off and looking for my circle members didn’t sit well with me.
“Shame, I guess it’s just me and you, Julia.′ Hannah sent a powered lid wink towards Julia, who bobbed her head, just like the way she did when she danced at the party.
“You two are not going either?” I asked the cousins, who shook their heads.
“I have to start moving to the city at the start of next year.” Dylan explained. Kristina had mentioned he was currently looking for apartments in the city.
“And I don’t do well with traveling.” Kristina clarified simply as she gathered her bag just as the bell rang.
“I’ve moved for double English now, Grace,” Dylan said as we all followed, getting up. “I have English with you guys.”
“Yippee,” Apollo huffed, but Julia’s elbow made his voice come out breathless. He coiled around her sharp elbow with a low groan.
“Don’t.” Was all that Julia said as our group went off in different directions.

These moments were precious to me, I needed them to think, and Da’s words were still in my brain. So, opening my phone in thoughts to make a list, I tried to think of more questions than ‘why’.
The closet door rushed open with a bang bringing me to instantly turn my phone off to block its light. My heart in my chest nearly flew out of my mouth. My first thought was the janitor, but as I tried to peek over the boxes, I was met with two dark figures tumbling in. The bright light behind them sent a sharp pain as my headache bloomed, nearly causing me to hiss out the pain.
The only door quickly shut, leaving the closet in darkness. My breath hitched as the sound of rustles, grunts, and wet lip-smacking were heard. I didn’t know if it was the small space or the darkness, but everything sounded extra loud inside here now.
My cheeks grew red as one moaned.
I really needed to leave.
These two obviously wanted to have a make-out session, and I should just get up, apologize and leave them to it.
“On your knees, Lucas.” A voice whispered roughly. Their tone sounded like a guy with a deep growl. It sounded hot and heavy, and I couldn’t place it.
Oh god!
“I don’t think-” Apollo’s voice sounded husky, hesitant even, but the sound of a clanking metal followed by a wisp of leather stopped his voice with a hitch. There was a thick heavy pause before the other spoke.
“You wanted this.” The other voice strained before the only sound of smacking lips was heard.
I should most definitely leave.
It wasn’t long before the other person sighed, followed by Apollo’s moans. It sounded like his mouth was thick with ash, his inner mouth walls covered only allowing primal sounds to be released. His groan, crackling of a burning blaze, got me hotter and hotter as new sounds came to my ears.
I couldn’t stop myself from crawling to the side of the box wall for a peak. But the sight nearly caused me to recoil at how close they were as the dark silhouette of one stood with their back to me. I hope I didn’t make any sound of my shock as I realized they were past the point of a kissing session.
A dark twist of erotic sound.
Wetness slurps and hollow pops and plunges of muffle moans i would never have thought I would witness. Each grunt and moan sent a lick of heat down my stomach and beyond. Sucking and slurping sounds were close to the point of gurgling. I noticed hands clinging tightly to the guys’ hips with my line of sight, allowing me to see Apollo’s many bracelet wrists.
My breaths came out in silent gasps. My core was aching painfully causing me to press my thighs together as I watched Apollo continue to move his head, gagging in each mouth stroke he did.
I turned to face the wall, putting my head down as my hands covered my ears, I tried to be as silent as possible as I blocked out the sounds close to the door. My face burned as I tried to calm my gasping of breath.
I can’t believe this is happening right now. The longer I sat there, listening to the grunts of the voice and the moans of a full mouth Apollo, the more embarrassed I got.
I should have left when I got the chance.
Someone hit the boxes, making the cardboard wall wobble as the voice whispered out a breathless, “Fuck”
Oh god, I thought as I felt my face heat up from their sounds, it continued to become more chaotic and urgent.
A part of me wanted to peek again, to see them in action, but that was wrong. This was meant to be a thing between them. They didn’t know I was here listening and getting hot like some kind of pervert!
What was wrong with me?
It was all too much as I tried to block it out as much as possible, for my sake and for Apollo’s dignity.
“Your mouth,” the voice murmured, making me heat up and ache down below from his dirty words.
My mind went blank as a loud groan erupted, and silence plummeted. There were only the deep fast sounds of panting. Like they just ran for miles, but only they didn’t run, and they only heaved out sexual tension that was so thick it even was suffocating me.
“Clean me off.” The stranger’s voice sounded hoarse as they worked to catch their breath. His words were so dirty and so demanding that it did nothing to calm the throb between my legs. Instead, it ached for a need, a want for what I assumed was what they were experiencing. I couldn’t stop my body from panting and trembling.
Who would have thought it would be contagious, I thought briefly.
“Not a word Lucas,” The voice said, and the darkened space brightened by the opening of the door.
“Wouldn’t dream of it.” Apollo muttered. But, even without seeing him, I could hear the smirk that was most likely on his lips.
The door softly closed, and I was once again enveloped by the dark. My own breathing in short pants at what I witnessed.
How could I leave this space knowing what I heard? How could I face Apollo after hearing the sounds I knew he could make and who was the guy he was with?
I decided to count to a hundred before I left. I didn’t want anyone to see me come out of here. My sanctuary was now off-limits from this day till forever.
My shaking body calmed as I finally got to a hundred and had built the courage to leave the closet in a fuzzy state of mind. The sharp brightness of the restroom hurt my eyes as I slowly crept out of the cupboard. But the oxygen in the room left as Apollo was leaning on the opposite side. His eyes were burning with his arms crossed. I froze under his intense stare.
He knew.
“Enjoy the show?” He asked without any lick of humor.
It was really unsettling. His blue eyes unblinking, he watched me with a dark look that didn’t suit his face. His lips weren’t in his usual smirk, but now we’re in a straight line, unamused. If he was mad at the party, this was on another level.
My throat, thick and tight, as the heat came back on my cheeks as the sounds from the cupboard came back. I couldn’t even look Apollo in the eye. I just witnessed something private and confusingly liked it. I should have just walked out before they opened the door. It would have been less embarrassing than it felt now.
“Didn’t think of you as a pervert, Grace” Apollo cocked his head, his blue eyes continued to burn. I was now Grace, not Guppy.
“I’m sorry,” I stuttered “I didn’t see-”
“I won’t be manipulated. Not by you or anyone else in this goddamn town.” Apollo snarled as he pushed from the wall and stalked over to me, placing his hands on either side of my head on the door behind me, trapping me.
Vincent’s words came back to me ‘Stay away from Apollo. He can be dangerous.’ Of course, I took the comment differently but seeing Apollo now, I couldn’t help as fear crept inside me.
“You didn’t see anything or hear anything- Got it?” He sneered. That looked wrong on his face. The once cocky features were long gone.
“If I hear you’ve been talking.” He leaned closer to my ear, not touching, but I still felt the burn from his aggression. “Let’s just say, I’m all for equality.” His threat rang clear as he stared into me with anger.
He wouldn’t hit me, would he?
But with his vicious look on his face that burned with anger, I knew in my heart he would.
“I’m sorry,” I said honestly. I could only manage a whisper, but Apollo left, slamming the door closed on the way out.
