The story for this week, June 10, 2024 with The Short Story Club is THE BOTTLE IMP by Robert Louis Stevenson.

I'm reading this story right now before I have a chance to read, and be swayed by, the deluge of esteemed reviews and remarkable comments submitted by the more brilliant members of this extraordinary group!

Just finished THE WIZARD POSTPONED by Juan Manuel (1282-1348), translated from Spanish to English by Norman Thomas di Giovanni, 1970.
Simply narrated, wonderful anecdote of comeuppance. Thoroughly enjoyed this!

OOPS! I got ahead of myself, this is the story for next monday 6/3/24. I did read it and enjoyed it anyway. Especially the writing style, grammer, and vocabulary of the era.
Going back to THE WIZARD POSTPONED which is the Short Story Club's group read for this week, 5/27/24....

Berengaria Why did they quit? Too much of the same after, what, 2 years?

message 2: by Julia (new)

Julia We’re you enjoying it though?

Valerie Book Valkyrie Hi Berengaria, yes, I think so. A visit to the group's site just now shows that they are into Black Water 2: More Tales of the Fantastic. I left the group at about the same time you did last year, after they stopped reading from Vol. I but had not yet added Vol II. I purchased Vol I with the intention of making my way through the entire collection with the group. I'll not purchase Vol. II only to be aborted after making it through less than half the book as happened with Vol. I 🧚‍♀️🙋🏼.

Valerie Book Valkyrie Hi Julia, Yes! I was enjoying it VERY MUCH. I especially liked reading one story per week with The Short Story Club because the moderators are VERY WELL read and help guide readers through some of the more obscure/difficult stories with knowledgable background info and related fun factoids. The club members shared their oftentimes unique opinions/perspective, their experiences regarding other works by the author of the story-of-the-week, their travels through the regions/places where the story took place, as well as posted thoughtful/inspiring/provocative comments that sparked lively discussion. I enjoyed the group and may go back, but have a lot on my plate right now in RL so won't be taking on any new reading projects any time soon🧚‍♀️🙋🏼.

I’m sorry to hear that Val. Maybe if you get some time for yourself you should finish it anyway then write one of those amazing reviews you write. Hope everything is ok in your RL.

Valerie Book Valkyrie Thanks so much for your gr friendship support, Julia! Glad you enjoy reading my musing little reviews. I have great fun writing them and have learned from many gr friends how to embellish with pics, links, and other accoutrements. Anyone know how to add sound/music 🧚‍♀️🙋🏼?
