skipped ahead to read the last few chapters, a lot of really big unsubstantiated claims about the demise of franklins men. he keeps mentioning "Gore's sledge" just bc there was stuff of Gore's in it. He definitely died before the 1848 march--like saying he's a part of those who died after the they walked is a CRAZY claim to make. IDK.
