Het schandaal (1969) ivm infrastructuurleningen die naar Slovenië moesten gaan, maar in andere republieken belandden, als katalysator voor nationalisme: "In the committees of the League of Communists of Slovenia, one could hear - for the first time since World War II - openly nationalist statements about 'the southerners', the exploitation of the Slovenian economy by the centre, and even some calls for independence."

Mei '68 in Joegoslavië leidde binnen de maand tot het aannemen van twee nieuwe wetten: een verdubbeling(!) van het minimumloon + een minimumquotum voor studenten op werkplaatsen. Tito zei zelfs openlijk dat hij desnoods zou aftreden(!!). Er was ook repressie van de studentenbeweging (toch vanaf de 70s), maar damn, dit is een concretere en minder symbolische overwinning dan mei '68 in West-Europa ooit kon afdwingen

"In the 1970s, Yugoslav socialism reached a crossroads: on the one hand, it insisted on a market reform with negative economic consequences (diminished growth, inflation, increased borrowing); on the other hand, the weaknesses of the planned development system (political investments, autarky of the individual provinces) were still implemented." Technocratische "experts" namen intussen de reële beslissingsmacht over.

Zelfbeheer in Joegoslavië verschilde de facto tussen bedrijven: "In some collectives it was taken seriously, and the workers participated in the decision-making. Conversely, in other collectives, workers were happy to delegate their formal rights onto the technocrats/directors." Maar doorheen de 50s werd het systeem wel steeds uitgebreider en dat ging samen met ec groei (die natuurlijk ook andere verklaringen had).

"According to Balibar, most Marxist analyses fall into the trap of either the "stage model" of transition, which supports the evolutionary paradigm of the inevitability of the transition of communism, or the "catastrophism" (...) of a pure beginning and a direct transition to communism." <=> Althusser die de contingentie terugbrengt en stelt dat geen enkele sociale klasse automatisch de historische hoofdrol speelt.

Bleiberg, Oostenrijks dorp waar fascistische krijgsgevangenen uit Joegoslavië tegen het einde van WW2 in Britse kampen zaten, is sinds de 90s het Kroatische equivalent van de IJzerwake en een plek waar internationaal extreemrechts elkaar ontmoet - maar tegelijk wordt die meeting officieel georganiseerd door de Kroatische Katholieke Kerk

"The Chetniks even joined forces with the Ustaše in Dalmatia and Bosnia, where they would help with destroying partisan units and executing activists of the Young Communist League and the Women's Anti-Fascist Front." Fascisten van verschillende "nationale" achtergronden zitten altijd in zo'n ongemakkelijke tweespalt tussen samenwerken wegens ideologie & elkaar alsnog doodslaan wegens etnisch chauvinisme
