Omg I can’t catch a break apparently, this is crazy

I want to throw up… This is one of the hardest chapters I’ve read this year, yes THIS YEAR. The Nanjing Massacre was awful and it’s difficult to read something that was inspired by such horrifying events.

My only critique relates to the history this is based on, which is mainly the second Sino-Japanese War. The depiction of indigenous people and of shamans can be misleading for people that are not aware of the very real events that I’m sure inspired the story. It seems that some characters are used to critique the very racism that justified atrocities at the time, but idk.. I’m not asian so maybe i should shuddup
