Just when I think I can’t take this series anymore it REELS ME IN WITH A PLOT TWIST OR A CONNECTION TO A CHARACTER FROM EARLIER ON.AH.

Tallula’s been vehemently denying a part of herself for the majority of this book while her actions betray her and I’ve been so frustrated with her that it’s hard to enjoy the book. But then a nice little thing happened that I appreciate as a writer myself: another character pointed it out to her, that she does, in fact, do this thing she thinks she doesn’t. That’s all the good I can say about the novel rn.

I’m about a hair’s length away from fully crashing out. Oh! My! God!! Don’t think I can physically take much more misinformed-Englishman-writing-American-Woman-horrifically. To add insult to baffled injury, the plot’s gone and turned into espionage tragedy navel-gazing, which I didn’t think was a thing. I want to finish this because I’m a sucker for closure but my deep wells of patience are evaporating!!!

shout out to the LA public library and Libby for ensuring that I could start this the day I finished the first!! Anyway I am, unfortunately, a sucker for Duncan’s pretensions and characters so here I am. Notes though for a future reality check: 1) This man doesn’t know how an American woman thinks so therefore Talulla’s voice is just a tad off and 2) I miss Jake and Harley and Ellis and Jacqueline.
