Just when I think I can’t take this series anymore it REELS ME IN WITH A PLOT TWIST OR A CONNECTION TO A CHARACTER FROM EARLIER ON.AH.

Tallula’s been vehemently denying a part of herself for the majority of this book while her actions betray her and I’ve been so frustrated with her that it’s hard to enjoy the book. But then a nice little thing happened that I appreciate as a writer myself: another character pointed it out to her, that she does, in fact, do this thing she thinks she doesn’t. That’s all the good I can say about the novel rn.

Duncan doesn’t write women all that well, let alone an American one…. Ouch.

shout out to the LA public library and Libby for ensuring that I could start this the day I finished the first!! Anyway I am, unfortunately, a sucker for Duncan’s pretensions and characters so here I am. Notes though for a future reality check: 1) This man doesn’t know how an American woman thinks so therefore Talulla’s voice is just a tad off and 2) I miss Jake and Harley and Ellis and Jacqueline.
