After 20 years I am going to slam dunk this, finally. I want to open a bottle of champagne. This book was just too amazing. What an epic achievement.

I'm in complete awe of this book. There is nothing that Hughes does not cover in total detail. What a herculean achievement. This is one of the GOAT books of non-fiction. Really eager to finish and review.

Writing a review for this might prove daunting, given the staggering level of detail Hughes has woven into this sweeping narrative. The level of research is off the chart. This could be the apex of historical non-fiction.
