Oh I just love this cozy utopian sequel!!
It doesn't say it outright but the way that the human world is set up now in the book is like the African word "Ubuntu" ("I am because we are"). It's very much about community and living with more equality. It's a place where taking care of yourself is a version of lifting up your community, and you support your community.
