exquisitely written in terms of word use and descriptive imagery, but so fucking creepy and way, way too detailed given the topic! Lolita did it better: it's disturbing without being nauseatingly repulsive. probably because of Humbert Humbert's character and the juxtaposition with that of Lo. Celeste is simply a sinister monster. I would love a book written exactly like this about almost any other subject! gaah.

the cover design is absolutely incredible in its simplicity! (I didn't even realise I was looking at a buttonhole until I noticed the corresponding button on the back cover.) powerful imagery...
