Not quite as funny as it tries to be, but still pretty funny. I like Cat's sass and sarcasm, but it is a bit over the top. She focuses too much on wit and not enough on fighting, to the point that I was at times surprised Sawyer even liked her. She seems exasperating to work with. Interesting plot and magic. I quite liked it actually. And I'm eager to find out more about why Cat's different.

But the romantic situation is frustrating. I can tolerate slow burn, but I really don't like "other woman/man" situations. I hated it in the first one, and I thought we'd gotten past it in this one, only to be utterly disappointed at the end. I'm holding out hope that the next book will resolve this, but I fear I'll be let down again.
