prepare yourself for me to have a lot of thoughts on this one… in my opinion, R&J doesn’t really work in a setting which is already rife with serious violence like a war in a post-apocalyptic landscape. R&J’s ultimate tragedy and the deaths that lead to it—i.e. Tybalt and Mercutio—have to feel important and DIFFERENT from the societal norm in order to propel the rest of the story

10 pages in and this retelling seems interested in some of the same themes of R&J as I am but unfortunately all of the characters have names that sound kinda like or start with the same letter as the characters in the play which is a huge pet peeve of mine. Expect for Paris who is apparently still just named Paris.
