Enjoying this book but there are times when i can't help but compare it to How to Be a Victorian (girl whose first nonfiction read about 19th century England was How to Be a Victorian). obviously they're covering different time periods, so like, the info is different, but... I feel like Ruth Goodman's coverage of certain topics seemed more thorough. Still think this one is a worthwhile read overall.

Some of these excerpts from Jane Austen's letters are crazy. like jane...omg. I've also learned that in 19th century England (until 1886, to be precise) you could only get married between 8am and 12pm. fun!
