I’ve tried. I just can’t. I love the author’s TikTok but 😬. Two things did me in:
1. The author kept referring to Nordic people as “Nordes,” which sounded odd, but she does have a Master’s in folklore. Maybe she knows something I don’t (I’ll admit that occasionally happens😉). But it bugged me. So I looked it up. The Nordes are a race of people in the video game The Elders Scrolls.

The Second reason I am DFNing this book is the FMC, Marlow, claims her great grandmother immigrated from Norway to avoid witch burnings. Marlow is 26 in the 2020’s. The earliest her great grandmother could have been born is the 1880’s (if no one had kids until their 40’s). She likely had her first kid around 1900.

The other reason why I have to DNF this book: The FMC Marlow says her great grandmother immigrated from Norway to escape Witch Burning/Trials. Marlow is 26 is in the 2020’s. Even if the women in her family don’t start having kids until their 40s, the earliest her great grandmother could have been born is the 1880’s. Even if she birthed
