But poor young Jim, ‘e’s livin’ an’ ‘e’s not;
‘E reckoned ‘e’d five chances, an’ ‘e’s ad;
‘E’s wounded, killed, and pris’ner, all the lot,

Julio The Fox Curious, David, how Owen and Byron both died in and for Greece.

David Owen was killed in action on 4 November 1918 during the crossing of the Sambre–Oise Canal, exactly one week (almost to the hour) before the signing of the Armistice which ended the war, and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant the day after his death.

David His war poems evoke visually chilling deaths. But not for ‘shock’, but for empathy.
