I would say it's not just entitled men who are capable of violence; it's every human, including women, who thinks they deserved things "just cause"

"Any really decent man ought to be angry" can be taken sooo out of context

Effie just really isn't endearing as a main character. It realistic, I guess, to be so scared of showing anger to her employers and to always daydreams about wearing pretty dresses and going to balls for someone with her background...but those traits don't make an interesting main character. It's getting a little annoying.
