At this point I’m ranting but this book ENRAGES me. FMC swears she hates him and finds him revolting but literally QUAKES at his proximity. Waxes poetic about the hills and valleys of his cheekbones, the dark feather of his lashes, his “fabulously wealthy” (direct fucking quote) scent. And he’s no better. Yet the narrative vehemently insists these two “hate” each other. This book thinks I’m stupid.

If at least the writing didn’t assume I’m too stupid to infer details from context clues. As soon as anything gets mentioned, queue a whole paragraph explaining the context to the reader

Page 23 and he backs her up against a wall, whispering threats against her ear until there’s “not enough air to breathe” and “there’s only him, igniting every inch” of her. Give me a fucking break, how utterly predictable and boring.

It’s been 6 pages and I’m rolling my eyes. Of COURSE the guy would be another Rhysand insert. Lethal, brutal, dark, “exuding power and poise”. And of COURSE she thinks of herself as mousy and unremarkable in comparison. Not a great start 😭
