This is getting a little bit heavy handed.
Kuang had made June absolutely deplorable. I struggle to read books when I loathe the main character.
Hopefully we get a shift in events or themes soon. It’s abit one note for 100 pages in.

Quite funny at parts. The themes are consistent and multilayered but there’s only one storyline. Yknow like only A plot, no B. Not necessarily a bad thing. Just one very strong concept. Which I think is fine.

Yeah you've stated perfectly why I've been hesitant to give this book a shot. I don't mind it when characters are awful. I just usually don't want them in a main character role if there's no growth or arc.

Yep! I love a bad character or unreliable narrator but you need to make them three dimensional, a lil self reflective or give them some at-least redeeming traits.Will let you know if I recommend by the end of the book
