holy cow. i've seen this executed in other books before – namely hitomi kanehara's autofiction – but this was really unique in its own way. this book logs the meandering, chaotic stream of consciousness of rei, a 30-something woman who is constantly in a tug of war between taking control of her rationality and letting loose the voices in her head.

oof this was a bit too relatable for me. i understand why the rating is so low because the narrative is definitely very experimental and unique. i would love to read more from mari akasaka, this was an enjoyable emotional read for me. it is chaotic, messy, and vulnerable, and i love it for what it is. first read for #witmonth, 3.75 ☆

at a Family Mart, she stumbles upon a younger man, a married trucker in his 20s, whom she is instantly infatuated with. this attraction and lust led her to join the man on a road trip where they engage in an intense sexual relationship. i say road trip, but it's really her just staying in the car while the man does his job as a trucker. so far i enjoyed this book, felt very seen as a fellow hypersexual person
