Psalm 18, instead of "You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light" (niv) greenberg, translates, "for it is you who lights up my candle, it is you God who makes my darkness shine."

Ps 51, "cleanse me with hyssop" (niv) G trans, "scrub my straying with hyssop."

Ps 52, "But I am like an olive tree" (niv) G trans, "I am like a fresh olive in the house of the creator."

I am reading Greenbergs translation of the psalms again and Alter's creative translation comes to mind over and over. I find the prologue from both translations immensely helpful to understand the motivations for their different approaches.
