this is actually such a smart plot point to not just show how the party propagandises the people to hate the rebels and be 'loyal to the party' but also just wants everyone to be 'lesser creatures' like i don't know if the book gets into what exactly the 'inner party' is but Syme could've been a part of it but a threat to the party is not just a rebel but even an ally
