Book 1 of the Booker longlist and it’s pretty unimpressive so far. Really flat, featureless narrative voice and lots of characters who are very difficult to care about. Based on what I’ve read up to now, I’ll be amazed if this makes the shortlist. Maybe it will improve in the second half though!
