These books are full of magical creatures — and out of all of them I’ve read about so far, none I find more scary than the Wheever. Just imagining if this was a real creature gives me goosebumps. It looks like a large beaver in ‘herbivore’ form, but when in ‘carnivore’ form it transforms. It shifts its entire body around, morphing into a ten-foot tall monster that has projectile quills. Scary, no?

Done and finished. What a book that was, so many ups and downs and the twists at the end, it was a blast to read through. Now all I need to do is read the third book, to figure out how this all ends and how Seven thinks her decision will help the future.

It’s very interesting so far. In this book we get two POVs instead of the one from the previous book (Phoenix/Twelve and Dog), the visions that Dog is getting from the Clasp River and the Shadowseam are making me equally curious to what will happen next. Im not getting good vibes from Zenith, she seems almost too caught up in the witches’ past for her own good. And she attacked Five (he did deserve it, but . .).

- Goblins, trolls, and goblin mages
- Grim: a tall creature that turns anything into ice with just one touch, can only be killed by bronze (I believe)
- Snagglefeet: a creature that hunters use to get around, I imagine them to look like a yak
- Ygrex (?): a creature that taps into your memories and uses them against you, making a scene to lure you into their lair
- Cliffcrawlers: a creature that lives in caves/dark places in colonies, they are attracted to you by sound and blood, have a venomous bite and are scared of fire
- Firesprite: a creature that I imagine to look like a fairy with fire swirling around it, they are sly and cunning and can control fire, they rarely listen to humans, and are easily offended
- Deathspinner: a creature that is a large spider — there are two kinds, the trapdoor and regular (?)
- Wheever: already described
- Skryl (?): a creature that is made of ice, and can detach pieces of itself and control them are projectiles, it can only be killed when its whole body is together and when pierced through the heart that glows light blue
- Moxie: illusive creatures that have healing properties and are (I imagine) an animal/human mix and have other magical powers
- Lutra: a magical otter that is also illusive and can bless those who they touch with longer lifespans, healing, visions, or other magical things — it is well loved in the River Clan
- Ice Eagle: magical creatures that are huge eagles and look like ice, created by witches in their Fletching to become official witches
- The Croke: a magical creature who can look into your eyes and see and sift through your memories, is hidden by a cloak and is made of darkness
- Witches: multiple types — elementals(those who can control and conger the elements), seers, and regular witches
