I love Rat, this story is jarring and sad and weird and bizarre and reminds me of a book I read years and years ago, I think it was called Dicey's Song about a girl having to take care of younger siblings on the run. I like the way Eberstadt flips between third and second person, I love Gillem's wife Kate, nervous for the children to make it to London. I'm on the verge of book 3.
