There’s a lot of feeling put into this book and a lot I relate to yet something about the writing is so deprived of emotion. It’s matter of fact rather than lyrical and it throws me off balance bc I feel like my heart should be twisting for these girls but instead it’s just passing through me with little effect. Somehow East of Eden could be written very matter of fact but it’s done so endearingly, idk idk
