This book is masturbatory. There's an overly intellectualised anxiety permeating every page, and the author is aware of this anxiety and aware of his pretentiousness and it's at once a criticism and celebration of his own follies. Look at me, I'm such a good leftist man and I worry endlessly about the correct decisions and I'm a pervert and freak and overthinker but I know I am feel bad for me! Grow up.
