The pacing of Chouchou’s story is so much better in the manga, and referring to the store he’s guarding as “his treasure” is further instilling the theme of treasure being something that connects you to your loved ones. For Luffy his hat, for Zoro Kuina’s sword, Chouchou his masters store, and Nami the treasure she can use to liberate her village.

I think Chouchou’s bravery followed by Luffy fighting for him is a perfect way to set up this series and Luffy as a character.

Zoro lifting a cannon and a cage with Luffy’s inside with a stab wound to the gut and claiming he’ll just shove his guts back in if they spill out is the beginning of a long history of Zoro majing the most insane stupid decisions with his injuries, poor Chopper
