I hope you'll like it, Kathie. I think it can be read as standalone but let me know if you need more info on the characters from other books in the series:)

I am enjoying this book a lot but perhaps I have more sympathy for Alfie than he deserves (based on all the comments). I rather like him and feel sorry for him. Was Sabine in any of the previous books? Perhaps I will work my way backwards and read book 3 next...I think this Lily he mentions is the h of book 3.
You're right about Alfie. As one of the reviewers pointed out "his rakish relationships are more complicated than just a villain and victim".He reminds me of Theo from A Lady Awakened. And, I don't remember Sabine in the previous books but Alfie was one of the secondary characters in all of the other books. Yes, Lily was MC in book 3.
Well, I probably shouldn't have started with book 4 but I had downloaded the sample and once I started reading it, I was intrigued and just went ahead and bought it. As I recall, I ended up liking Theo from A Lady Awakened so it may be that I am too easy on these guys..lol. Thanks for bringing another "new to me" author to my attention. She writes very well I think.
