This is the strangest book- it's like the MCs are living in a perpetual fog. The MMC is actually quite repugnant- detached, disinterested and debauched. I am getting flashbacks to Albert Camus' The Stranger,, and not in a good way. The FMC seems to just accept her life is shit and carry on coldly, totally divorced from any strong feelings. Now a brutal murder. All very disturbing. Not sure if I can go on.

Coming back to this. The MC is grating. She’s the kid in class that reminds the teacher we have homework.

Of course have to sneak in a too long for GRs quote to finish year off right!

This is the kind of book that made me wish I had more free time for reading this week! It pains me that I can't just spend every minute reading it.

Every minute she spent in his company armed him and weakened her, because she wasn’t resisting him . She was resisting his ability to understand her. His approval of her. No wonder the man was so successful.
