Usually not a fan of modern pop-culture references, but since this is on a fictional island on contemporary Earth and the fact fmc is an old vampire who doesn't get all these references mmc is throwing around for comical effect makes it work.

Ehh not a fan of therapy speak "this isn't love, this is Stockholm Syndrome", but I guess in a 200-page book there isn't much space for nuance and slow discovery / exploration.
