ok i love the prose and im enjoying the ideas behind the story. but the pacing is bad and the mc is so boring. im almost halfway through the book and the only significant female character is dead and has like 0 independent characterization. i WANT this book to be good so badly bc i am highly invested in the world but i need it to pick up NOW

i want to like this book so much more than i do but shadow is boring, there are no women, and so far it’s just been 257 pages of ominous references to a storm coming. i’m this close 🤏 to dnfing if it doesn’t pick up soon. i just really hope i didn’t read those interdimensional sex scenes for nothing.
