Still wasting page space on FMC's angsting instead of offering terse descriptions of her survival prowess against impossible odds. This isn't increasing my reader investment in her survival. At this point in an ebook version I would start skimming. It's hard to do that with an audiobook.

This is what I hate about 1st person POV in an action-adventure novel: the FMC needs to be move or die, but she pauses to give us a backstory lecture on the history of planet Earth. I first ran into that trope in the Harry Dresden books. Jim Butcher is one of the worst offenders for MMC lectures in the middle of deadly fights. Get on with the action, dammit!!!
