I want to like this book but when I have sentences like “not a single corpuscle of Cat’s being would remain quiescent when an animal was in distress” it pulls me so far out of the story I’m struggling to invest myself in.

Also if these idiots don’t end up living HEA in this haunted house I’m rioting
