Thorn and company are met with giant strange birds and they ask them for help. They point them in the direction of 'City on the sea'. Zaf again teleports them and being lucky they encounter 'Quicksilver Foxheart'. She takes them home they heal Zaf there. Meanwhile, Brier is held hostage by Zimo, another stormwitch but is quickly saved by her harvester friends. And they tell her the truth about the lightnings.

Something's hunting Thorn and company. They feel it. They see it. Zaf suggests they teleport using some of the lightning that's left deep inside her. They do teleport to some strange mountain. Queen Tyna meets the witch and gets the curse transfer to herself after killing her. She feels power through her toes to her head. Here, Brier and Mazby are followed by someone for a long distance. They attack Brier and Mazby.

The lightning that struck Noro was in fact a girl trapped inside it. She further told that all the lightning that their harvested was stormwitches trapped inside the lightning and they were beind killed when they made them into eldisks. Here, the queen escapes the castle to go visit the Fetterwitch. A unicorn changed by Gulgot's touch warns Thorn that he is coming sooner than expected. Probably just in a few days.

The queen summons Brier but since she cant go, Thorn goes in place of her. The queen orders Thorn to go to the east of the Impassable Mountains to fetch more lightning enough for 200 eldisks. Thorn, Noro, Bortas and 5 of the queens personal soldiers leave at midday for the mountains. The next day, the swamp where they were camping, kills all the 5 soldiers. A strange lightning bolt strikes Noro out of nowhere.
