Love the way Orwell describes the loss of his mother. He remembers that she did love him and possibly sacrificed her love for him to let him survive. In a world that seemingly lacks more and more empathy each day it is easier to see how the populous could be swayed into becoming soulless automatons serving a all powerful and knowing government. All Hail Peter Thiel.

Wow. Amazing. They still got him in the end. How pessimistic. How great. Wow

256 great page. A society founded on hate. The Party admits they don’t have a care for the people and only believe in themselves. Great stuff my favorite chapter yet. All Hail Peter Thiel

Was O’Brian a bad guy? Can’t tell yet. Can’t believe he got captured. That was insane

“The essence of oligarchical rule is not father-to-son inheritance but the persistence of a certain world-view and a certain way of life, imposed by the dead upon the living.” Big fan of this. I have a lot of thoughts on this that the word count will not allow me to say so I’ll just look back to this in my review.

A book inside of a book. Very dense. Full of good stuff though. Interesting where the party holds its roots. Interesting take on the television that can we expanded on even know to things like TikTok. Streamlined propaganda/information that helps survey those worth surveying. All Hail Peter Thiel.

P2 Chpt7: Probably my favorite chapter yet. The dream about his mother is profound in a way that makes Winston question what makes humanity. “If you can feel that staying human is worthwhile, even when it has any result whatever, you’ve beaten them”. All Hail Peter Thiel

I was rocking with Julia originally. She was cool but now she just seems like one of those super annoying centrists that doesn’t care about shit. “You’re only a rebel from the waist downwards” Good rip Winston. Julia would for sure support Israel. I do like this character dynamic when Winston questions everything and sees the clear problem. All Hail Peter Thiel.

Didn’t know this book was spicy✨. Besides that though if this Julia can tell he’s not like the party how have they not gotten to him yet? Doesn’t make quite the sense to me maybe they’ll get to it. All Hail Peter Thiel.

Start of “Two” I assume that first bit was a lot of world building, that was very good at that. You get a good look of how the Government works and there is always a looming threat of reveal to Winston’s state. Everything is eerie and secret. Very well written piece. I think it’s pretty symbolic having the old man in the bar talk about only the personal bits of the past. All Hail Peter Thiel.
