Considering dnf. Textbook where? Too academic where??? It's written like any other ya fantasy out there and the actual discussions surrounding academia have a depth of a puddle. So far it's no better than listening to students' rants in-between lectures at a local university.

If one more time I'll have to listen to hers 'Im not a victim, it was my decision'... It's not even that these characters are unreliable and morally grey, they are so incredibly unlikable they might as well end up soulless in Hell for all I care. I don't feel connected, I don't root for them nor like them (which is the entire point of deeply flawed characters).
