This book is very much a thriller and it's like if Dark Matter by Blake Crouch stumbled onto the weird end of the world sets in Evangelion (minus giant monsters), and it all happened in West Virginia. Man, I want to keep going but I don't want to keep going, but I'm going to keep going.

That prologue could've been a standalone short story and I'd give it 5 stars
