Studied under Roger Fisher and Bruce Patton at HLS in the early 90s. Then taught the ideas in Getting to Yes for more than fifteen years after finishing law school. The book has enjoyed a long half life. Will be interested to hear what you think when you have finished reading the book.

I’m reading it for my Conflict and Negotiation grad class, and it’s incredibly relevant and helpful. It’s given me several new perspectives—fully develop a strong BATNA, how to handle dirty tactics, and even thinking of war as a step in negotiation. We also watched a Roger Fisher talk from 1983, which was fascinating.

Roger Fisher was definitely ahead of his times. And the ideas are pretty much timeless. What grad program are you doing?
