This massive tome analysing the Indian epic Mahabharata seems coloured by the author's deeply religious outlook. He is hell-bent on whitewashing the "heroes" and maligning the "villains". For an epic which makes very few value judgements, a more nuanced evaluation might have been better - but maybe that's just the atheist liberal in me, coming to the fore.

The only intention of the author seems to be to impress the "official" interpretation - i.e. from a Hindu traditionalist viewpoint - on the readers. He keeps on attacking novels based on and criticisms of the Mahabharata wherever it does not agree with this interpretation. Losing interest fast.
