Every conversation is an evasion. Nothing substantial is ever spoken, only obliquely hinted at and then promptly denied. It’s not so bad at first, but whenever every conversation up to now has followed the same format — it makes me want to scream and wish death on every character in the book. GIVE ME SOMETHING TO CARE ABOUT WITH THESE CHARACTER,
PLEASE. A HINT OF HUMANITY OR MATURITY.

I don’t even care anymore, but I must go on. Honor bound by arbitrary rules imposed by nobody but me — I march forward into an emotional wasteland of Gucci Backpacks, mind numbing conversations, graphic sex, paranoid intrigue, new wave mixtapes, and teenage mutilation.

Pervy Terry. Not a man to be held up as a beacon of the community, that I can tell you.

You know what’s actually interesting?

Other people.

Realizing you aren’t the center of the universe — that other people experience depth, story, and meaning just as vividly as you do. That you can bridge the gap and share your worlds. That’s interesting.

There’s a fine line between self-reflection and self-absorption.
