Listen, maybe your daughter should call it a day out there, come home. We all make mistakes.’

Susan has just moved into the realm of unlikable character. Robert just asked her to go with him to France for a few months to help out his daughter. Susan dislikes the idea so much, she suggest the daughter just pack in her dreams.

A simple ‘no’ would’ve done.

Wearing gloves and carrying an evidence bag, he efficiently collected the can but also collected other individual items from the pile and placed them in separate bags.

I’ve sat on this question for long enough: why didn’t the police search this area when they first arrived on the scene and realised they were dealing with a possible suspicious death?

What a weird ass world does this author live in? A guy ask his girl-friend to marry him. The girl’s reaction:
Her expression was one of delight rather than surprise.

I should hope a marriage proposal does not come as a surprise. If it comes as a surprise, the two people involved aren’t really on the same page in regards to their relationship and probably shouldn’t be getting marrried.

We’re halfway through the book and Susan has just made her first attempt to investigate. Upto this point people came to her and she may or may not ask them things, but now she made her first step to actively insinuate herself in a situation. Halfway through the book!

LeAnne laid her hand on his knee.

First an arm around his shoulder, then a hand on his knee.
There is such a thing as subtelty (particularly when moving in on someone who’s been a widower for less than 24 hours.

‘There were two,’ replied Nick. ‘Maxine had one. The spare key was hanging up on a hook by the door.’

That’s not actually true, but Nick doesn’t know that. Why didn’t Zoe correct him?
