THIS is why I stopped watching TV!!!! I haven’t even put a dent in this book and already I realize the show skips over MOST of the relationship buildup between Matthew and Diana. The show makes it seem like it was a whirlwind romance when really they were kicking it for a long while before all that started! Tea dates, yoga classes, the whole nine. 😒

I loved this series, but I also think they did a great job with the TV adaptation. I think you'll always be dissatisfied if you're waiting for an exact replica. I really enjoy reading a book then watching the show or movie to see how it compares to my imagination. In my opinion, the show got all the important things right and has the same feeling as the book. There was one detail in season one that was changed that I liked. The part in the library when they meet was better in the show. The book has Diana trip and fall into Mathew's arms. She is so strong and intelligent. That scene was super corny and felt inauthentic to her character in the book, but it was fixed in the show.

Yeah good point. I generally try not to read books I’ve already seen on screen because I know I’ll never be satisfied. But yes!!! That exact scene is what I immediately thought of. The literally falling for Matthew threw me off when it was way more organic than that!
