I worried over getting this book because it felt invasive. Didion did not write this with the intention or thought that it would ever be published, though maybe she knew someone would read them one day. It should feel weird that reading this book is literally like sitting in on the psychiatry sessions Didion attended, but, the observations on depression and self-regulation are enough that I can’t put it down.
