- I’m waiting for this to get a bit more ominous. Like if you’re going to do a dystopian tech future, then you’ve got to make it with creepy undertones, but so far it’s not there at all because the protagonist has lived a different lifestyle than everyone else.
- The scariest thing so far is the sick sister, and that’s not very dystopian at all.
- I should probably give this more of a chance lol I’m so impatient!

Alexander Peterhans It does say it's "thrillingly paced", which invites narrative impatience?

Kadi P Hey thank you for justifying my impatience that’s my guy🙌🏻
But I think whoever wrote that was exaggerating a tad bit! It’s not a slog but I don’t feel particularly thrilled, right now they’re traipsing around the school on a tour and it’s kinda boring like a montage scene. I need more worldbuilding and there’s barely any tech for a dystopian tech-world.

AurorainBookland Maybe the author thought they had to tone it down for the younger MG audience? Some authors don't seem to understand that MG can be for 8 year olds but MG also means it can be for 10 and up year olds.

AurorainBookland I find that happening a lot if it's the author's first MG novel. Looking at you Peter Brown author of the Wild Robot, those read more like chapter books for younger readers than MG. But hey at least he had decent plot and dialogue.

Kadi P @Aurora nah I think I’m probably the problem here😂 I think it might be building up to something hopefully.
The author definitely knows how to write for MG because they’ve written several MG books and it is well-written so now simplistic or anything. It could also just be that I’m expecting more from it than it was going to give anyway, but we’ll see and then I’ll put it in my review!
