I think there is a lot to like abt this book but also a lot to dislike, which is a shame, but the ending is mostly good. I’ll count this more as a 3.5 and round up to 4 to b nice

I’m actually so sad that I don’t like the community aspect in this book, even tho it’s the selling point. The ‘community’ in this book are invasive, rude, disrespectful of the original i habitants and feels more like a version of gentrification/invasion than a joining of groups (and this is both abt the plants and the family) :(

Not enough bad things are happening to the characters

The family drama to me is the interesting part of the book and I think we should’ve gotten here quicker

It would’ve been nice if Terlu had lasting trauma from being a statue—alive— for 6 years in a way that was meaningful 😭

Call me heartless but I just don’t really care as much about plants dying being the central conflict. They aren’t endangered species or sentient, just regular plants. If anything, I care more about the greenhouse’s destruction than the plants themselves- because that can’t be replaced

I like the premise but the execution can be spotty at times

A lot of desc.s of places that we don’t care abt and don’t have much need to see rn, but I like how its written mostly, its just that this could b shortened
