A weird quote from this book: “Anyway, Bangor was straight trailer trash: dirty concrete, sneakers with the tongues pulled up, white poor people either really skinny or really fat, self-medicating with drugs or food respectively.” Granted, this character HATES Maine, but wha? Also, this isn’t present time, this is likely.. 2014, I’d guess? Ugh.

ALSO!! One of the characters grew up well off in Boston and unless i missed something, the general sentiment is that she has never been to Maine, which is odd to me as Maine is Massachusetts’ playground.
