Really like Kingfisher's retellings but I wish there were more variations in her characters. I agree we need more average (or even less than that) FMC but surely there is more than one type of that character? Overweighted, bland, not so bright spinster with an inferiority complex but a knack for one thing (here, chemistry, elsewhere needlework or not bothering people – yes, I know) is great once or twice, not more
