Cary Groner doesn't know menstruaters if he thinks that 15 years into post-apocalypse, tampons would appeal to them and would be "worth their weight in gold" for their intended purpose. people get used to cloth pads and sew on waterproof sides if they cared so much about blood leaks. jfc

the sections on the road are good. some of the pit stops are interesting. but then, there are the sections of didactic rumination. reviews say the end is pretty bad, filled with too-perfect circumstantial action, so we'll see how much I can tolerate before I drop. only 3 hrs left.
