I’m at the point where I’m thinking that the phrase “men might find the pink lab coats erotic” to be really enlightening (re: color theory, maybe?). The question of womanhood totally depends on our notions of fatherhood. The page beforehand totally has like a full run-down of how problematic fathers can be. That was good.

Charisse is a feminist. Okay. I’m just like way too invested in this book more than I should be, but yes, Charisse is a feminist but she’s like a peripheral character who blurts out the importance of believing women, which is obvious. The event of Susanna’s pregnancy does not seem to do really much to Frida’s growth, but it’s definitely enough to solidify the death of her relationship with Gust.

There’s no buildup of Frida having been lobotomized, and yet… she has a lobotomy voice? 🧐

Honestly, I think these sentences are only bringing up old wounds.

So far, it’s going kinda slow. I find myself being bothered by the gerunds.

I feel like I’ve been hooked on this book longer than I should but I drew mockups of how to imagine this surrealist fiction.
