This would’ve made a lot more sense if Dankmar, the Death Deity, hadn’t also been the lead singer of Cold Soul and had plenty of time to traverse Earth in his physical body. How can he say Pagan is the reason for these new emotions when he has experienced what it is to exist outside of his purpose?

There’s a certain suspension of disbelief that can apply to (romance) books with no fantastical elements. I think when there’s a fantasy element in place, or a dystopian one, there’s an expectation for the world itself to make sense. Even if that means I come across as overly critical, but then again, this book should be revised and republished because the basic elements are there!

When has Death ever taken an interest in an apparently ordinary human girl? Leif knew ever since the voodoo deal that Pagan was different, that Dank would see that but he dismissed his interest as benign instead of love?
